Pete Rizzo, former editor-in-chief at leading crypto news outlet CoinDesk, has started a new position at cryptocurrency exchange Kraken.
Per a Jan. 15 announcement from Kraken, Rizzo’s new role as Editor-at-Large will entail responsibility for content production for the company’s new products and services.
Departure from CoinDesk and the new role
Regarding the shift in positions, Rizzo said “At this stage in my career, I wanted the opportunity to work with a larger team that was trying to acquire users and get people interested in bitcoin and cryptocurrency.”
Rizzo, who left CoinDesk back in September, had been instrumental to the company’s editorial desk for 6 years.
Reports at the time linked the departure to CoinDesk’s move into parent company Digital Currency Group’s headquarter, a controversial move that Rizzo and others were worried would compromise editorial integrity and reputation. Other sources reported that Rizzo was let go over longer-term issues with his leadership.
Kraken’s announcement of Rizzo’s hiring suggests expansion to their existing content production — following on the heels of broader global growth across various departments of the United States-based company.
Just yesterday, Cointelegraph reported on Kraken’s acquisition of Bit Trade, Australia’s oldest crypto exchange. Last month, Kraken bought Circle’s over-the-counter trading desk. In March 2019, Kraken announced a series of high-level hires including Matt Mason — formerly Chief Content Officer at BitTorrent — as Chief Marketing Officer.
It remains to be seen how much the addition of Rizzo to the team will amplify Kraken’s presence within the press, as well as whether this hire indicates a major initiative in the company’s marketing and content strategy.
As of press time, Kraken had not responded to Cointelegraph’s request for comment. This article will be updated pending a response.

Bitcoin has in the past been called a Ponzi scheme, a scam, a tool for money laundering and criminal activities, and even has been dubbed rat poison by the Oracle of Omaha himself, Warren Buffett. But that “rat poison” is a more sought after investment in millennial investors than the Buffett-backed Berkshire Hathaway, and many other top stocks. Bitcoin Outranks Traditional Stocks In Millennial Investors Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin , Ethereum, Ripple, and thousands and thousands more, are an emerging asset class that despite being new, untested, and unproven, are a more appealing investment to millennial investors than many of today’s top-performing stocks. Bitcoin’s explosive price rally this year has earned it a new fan in CelticGold, AG. The Frankfurt-based precious metals exchange in a note advised commodity investors to purchase the world’s leading cryptocurrency. It said they should at least allocate 1-5 percent of their precious metals portfolio to Bitcoin, citing its two-year winning streak that resulted in 138 percent of combined gains. In 2019, the XBT/USD exchange rate rose by 92 percent. Meanwhile, in 2020, the pair climbed another 46 percent until mid-February. The XBT/XAU exchange rate heading towards a breakout scenario | Source: CelticGold CelticGold’s recommendation primarily drew inspirations from Gold, which has underperformed vastly against bitcoin despite its attractive price rallies in the 2019-2020 period. The exchange noted that bitcoin’s rate against gold is rising – and that it should break out against the yellow metal this year. “If you are very familiar with cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin, you can individually allocate higher percentages to Bitcoin,” it said. “For the average investor, who is also invested in equities and real estate, 5% in the highly speculative and highly volatile Bitcoin…Feb 17, 2020
Crypto exchange Kraken has added stablecoin USD Coin (USDC) to its list of trading pairs. Touted as “the world’s fastest-growing stablecoin,” USDC saw listing today on crypto exchange Kraken, per a press release provided to Cointelegraph on Jan. 8. USDC developed by Circle and Coinbase Payment company Circle, alongside crypto exchange powerhouse Coinbase, founded an endeavor called the Centre Consortium, developing USDC under the Centre name. An Ethereum-based (ERC-20) token, USDC is a cryptocurrency pegged to the U.S. dollar, allowing traders and investors to park their money in a stable and transferable digital asset if need be. The past two years have seen an influx of additional stablecoins into the crypto space, including USDC, after regulatory and insolvency fears flooded the market surrounding legacy stablecoin Tether (USDT). In December 2019, USDC posted a market cap of more than $500 million — only the second stablecoin in history to achieve such numbers, the press release noted. Still showing its market dominance at press time, USDT sits with a market cap of more than $4 billion. Circle and Coinbase list USDC on…Jan 9, 2020
Twitter Facebook reddit Pinterest Hacker News LinkedIn Tumblr Google+ VKontakte Bitcoin must defend $7,000 to avert a possible spiral targeting $6,000. The formation of a symmetrical triangle suggests that a rally towards $8,000 is in the offing. Bitcoin has managed to defend the crucial support at $7,000. The downside price action follows a rejection from levels around $7,900. Bitcoin recovered significantly, pushing against several barriers from the recent slump to $6,530. The losses failed to find support in several areas including $7,700, $7,500 and $7,200. Meanwhile, the price is teetering at $7,193 amid low volume and low volatility levels. The immediate upside is limited at $7,200 while further movement north will come face to face with the seller congestion at $7,400 and $7,700 respectively. The 50 Moving Average is holding ground above the price at $7,414. A confluence created by the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level and the 100 MA suggests that recovery will not come easy. Economic growth figures are starting to trickle in, and, as expected, they’re bad. Really bad. This past week the U.S. reported Q1 GDP growth as -4.8%. Italy’s GDP fell -4.5%, Spain came in at -5.2%, and France trumped that with a whopping -5.8%. And that’s just warming up – Christine Lagarde, head of the ECB, has warned that euro-area GDP could fall by as much as 15% in Q2. And yet stock markets in the U.S. and Europe closed up on the week, in spite of the inevitability that the next quarter will be worse still. Jrue Holiday is available via trade. The Heat are the most popular potential suitor for his services. But a closer look reveals other teams can offer more enticing packages to the Pelicans. Jrue Holiday is officially on the trading block, according to The New York Times’ Marc Stein, and the masses have already decided the Miami Heat are his most likely destination. Source: Twitter It makes sense on the surface. A dynamic two-way point guard could propel the Heat to true contention in the Eastern Conference. Holiday has a player option on the final season of his existing contract, too, meaning Miami could retain the cap flexibility necessary to chase Giannis Antetokounmpo in free agency come summer 2021. But a closer look at Miami’s stable of assets reveals it might lack the firepower to make an attractive offer to New Orleans. League rules prevent the Heat from including any first-round pick due until the mid-to-late 2020s in any trade. Bam Adebayo might as well be untouchable; and Justise Winslow, awesomely versatile as he is defensively, is a poor fit on…Dec 19, 2019
Bitcoin’s recent volatility did some severe technical damage to its market structure, and also led to mass capitulation amongst BTC miners, with the crypto’s decline from $10,500 to lows of $3,800 making it no longer profitable for many smaller mining operations. Miner’s ongoing capitulation is illustrated while looking towards Bitcoin’s hash rate, which has seen a significant decline over the past three weeks. The decline may be far from over, as a few simple factors seem to suggest that more miners may capitulate in the near-term. Bulls, however, may be pleased to learn that there’s a strong chance that this decline in hash rate may ultimately be a positive thing for Bitcoin’s price, with the capitulation of smaller miners potentially alleviating some of the selling pressure on the crypto. Bitcoin’s Hash Rate Continues Dropping: Down 20% From All-Time Highs Bitcoin’s hash rate – which represents the terahashes per second (TH/s) that are performed by the BTC blockchain – is often looked upon as an indicator of the cryptocurrency’s fundamental network strength. Its hash rate has declined significantly over the past…Apr 1, 2020
According to reports from Israel on November 24, 2019, 78 current and ex-personnel of the Israeli firm behind DX.Exchange, many of whom are former employees of the FBI-raided company, SpotOption, have petitioned to have their employer dissolved. Disgruntled Employees The Israeli company backing cryptocurrency exchange DX.Exchange is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings after 78 of its current and ex-employees petitioned a local court to close it down. Filed on October 24, the petition contained many surprising claims and revelations, associating the crypto exchange with Israel’s notorious binary options industry. It also claimed that Israeli company, CX Technologies Ltd., established and operated a cryptocurrency trading platform. The trading platform was called DX.Exchange. Whilst DX.Exchange states that it is owned by a company registered in Estonia, the petition disagrees and affirms that it was operated by CX Technologies. It further alleges that CX Technologies is an heir company to SpotOption, a platform provider for binary brokers that was raided by the FBI in January 2018 due to suspicions that it was involved in Israel’s multibillion-dollar binary options scam. Although DX.Exchange has denied it had…Nov 25, 2019

It’s no secret that the past couple of weeks have been quite negative for Bitcoin and the aggregated crypto market, with many major altcoins incurring intense downtrends that have erased a significant amount of gains incurred throughout the first couple of months in 2020. Most major cryptocurrencies, however, are now nearing critical support levels that could catalyze an intense relief rally. These levels also seem to coincide with a massive pennant that that total crypto market cap has been caught within, leading one analyst to note that the market could be preparing for “something huge.” Bitcoin and Crypto Market Near Key Support Levels That Could Spark Relief Rally At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading down marginally at its current price of $8,730, which marks a notable climb from daily lows of $8,400 that were set when bears attempted to catalyze an intense selloff overnight. Bulls were able to step up and absorb the majority of this selling pressure, subsequently allowing BTC to reclaim its key support level at $8,700. This BTC volatility led the aggregated crypto market to…Feb 29, 2020
