It has been around ten years since the launch of Bitcoin, so how far have cryptocurrencies come? Although people in the finance sector like traders and businessmen are well-versed about cryptocurrencies, how much does the general public know?
Cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, aim to replace the global financial system through mass adoption. It seems that cryptocurrencies are growing rapidly. A few years ago, the tech was being called a Ponzi scheme. Now central banks, as well as social media giants like Facebook and Telegram, are diving into it.
Regardless of what institutional adoption it has, the market has had little success in gaining support from everyday people. Not only that many ordinary people do not even know about the technology or how it works.
Here is an overview of how much people in various countries know about Bitcoin.
Spain had had a very positive outlook on cryptocurrencies as was seen in July when the Barcelona Trading Conference was held. The meeting involved many exchanges, market makers, and other related people as well. The conference discussed the future of blockchain technology while also touching on the subject of Bitcoin’s price.
Despite such high profile events crypto awareness in Barcelona was very low as it seemed that only the elite had access to it. Many people had not even heard the words Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
Portugal has had a very welcoming response to crypto investors and businesses alike. The country supervises cryptocurrency transaction with zero taxation. All crypto payments and trades are totally tax-free in the country.
Regardless of such an encouraging regulation, crypto awareness was limited to people of the upper classes while the everyday folk had no knowledge about it. Cryptocurrency in Portugal is still miles from mass adoption.
Will cryptocurrencies gain mass adoption?
These two seemed to be some of the most pro-crypto countries yet had a low crypto awareness rate. So what about the countries that are anti-crypto or third-world countries. Well, crypto awareness can be considered a precise zero in those areas, and it is difficult to see it rising anytime soon.

Surviving Black Monday is a right of passage for NFL coaches and general managers, but not one that some make it past. Two head coaches and one general manager have already lost their jobs. Who’s next? Jason Garrett is the obvious choice, but Jerry Jones has yet to pull the trigger. For football coaches, the pinnacle of the profession is the NFL. But there is a problem inherent with coaching in the NFL—there is no job security, especially if you don’t make the playoffs every year. For those that did not make the postseason, today – Black Monday – is potentially a very bad day. Teams looking to make a change will fire their current head coach and/or general manager as soon as the regular season ends. Some do it within hours, as the Cleveland Browns did with Freddie Kitchens (and his infamous t-shirt). Most wait until the day after to do it – like Washington did with Bruce Allen and the Giants did with Pat Shurmur. Hence, the name ‘Black Monday.’ So, the question now is, who will be…Dec 31, 2019
Twitter Facebook reddit Pinterest Hacker News LinkedIn Tumblr Google+ VKontakte The battle between Justin Sun, the Tron Foundation CEO, and STEEM blockchain, has taken yet another turn, this time the TRON boss responding ‘harshly’ to comments from Binance CEO, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao. This strike looks to be the first of many, in a battle that does not look set to end any time soon. Since purchasing Steemit.com in mid-February, a Reddit-like app, Sun has been targeted by the community who accuse him of planning to take over the STEEM blockchain forcefully. In the scheme of the attack, Binance, Huobi and Sun-owned Poloniex used users’ funds to vote for Justin’s “Witness” on the STEEM blockchain effectively giving him power over the network. Why? Justin is looking to unlock the ninja-minted STEEM tokens (pre-mined tokens) he acquired once he purchased Steemit while the community plans a soft fork to preventing him to use these coins in any governance issues. However, following an outcry from the crypto Twitter community, Binance and Huobi withdrew their votes and the relationship between Justin and CZ has…Mar 8, 2020

Rise of the Machines It might feel like every company in the world has found a blockchain solution in the last six months and words like ICO, cryptos, token, and others are taking over the radio waves. Today, cryptocurrency has become a reality, and most online casinos are changing their banking options to include this digital money. Payouts and payment options have become more varied and the use of cryptocurrencies is much in line with payment trends in the gambling industry. Digital Currency by Default Crypto currency and blockchain are having an impact on the casino industry, but the effect is perhaps most significant in the world of online slot machines where the technology is being adopted by companies, developers and even players. New mobile technology has also brought online casino gambling and sports betting into the mainstream, completely transforming the industry as we know it. Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin has hit a major stumbling block as activists try to block its construction. Google was once thwarted by local activists when trying to open a tech start-up incubator. Elon Musk’s claims that the Gigafactory will have a net positive environmental impact aren’t enough to assuage environmentalists’ worries. Elon Musk was on the defensive this week after his plans to open a Tesla Gigafactory in Germany were put on hold due to environmental concerns. Musk bought up a whopping 300 hectares outside of Berlin with the aim of opening a Gigafactory at the site by 2021. Musk ran into his first set of problems in 2019, when he announced the planned factory before securing the necessary planning permission. Gigafactory Berlin Doomed From the Start In true Elon Musk style, the billionaire forged ahead when German officials said Tesla could start preparing to build without the correct permits “at its own risk.” Tesla did just that, a move that required chopping down a sizable forest. While Tesla has promised to re-home the area’s wildlife, German environmentalists aren’t happy. Buffett”…Feb 17, 2020
The deposit smart contract for Ethereum 2.0 has completed formal verification and audit of the bytecode. Continued optimizations to ETH 2.0’s beacon chain are also underway. Ethereum 2.0 is Getting Closer to Reality Formal Verification (FV) is essential to production software development. FV is a method of analyzing the code semantics to make sure they adhere to certain properties. Many of the vulnerabilities in smart contracts are semantic errors in the code that allow undesired outcomes of code execution. This means glitches like the DAO hack can happen, contrary to the intentions of the creator of the smart contract. Ethereum just finished its FV analysis of the Ethereum 2 deposit smart contract bytecode. Bytecode is a low-level code that runs in the Ethereum Virtual Machine (VM). The Ethereum VM takes code written in Solidity and then translates and runs it in the VM as bytecode. Having an audit of this code for ETH 2.0’s deposit contract is a big step forward. Continued work on Ethereum 2’s beacon chain optimizations is also taking place. The beacon chain is the main reference…Feb 5, 2020
Crypto will take center stage on Capitol Hill for the second time in as many weeks when the U.S. Senate Banking Committee convenes Tuesday to discuss current and potential regulations. Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Circle, will testify as a representative of the Blockchain Association trade group. He will be joined by University of California at Irvine School of Law professor Mehrsa Baradaran and Congressional Research Service specialist Rebecca Nelson. The hearing is set to examine the regulatory questions around the industry and should be fairly broad, unlike the hearings on Facebook’s Libra project earlier this month. “It’s going to be a discussion about the broader industry and what are the regulatory challenges and what can the U.S. be doing better, so I’m pretty optimistic,” said Kristin Smith, head of the Blockchain Association. In his prepared remarks, Allaire calls for Congress to treat digital assets as its own asset class, as current regulatory burdens may make it difficult for U.S. companies to conduct business. “Being a law-abiding U.S. citizen should not put U.S. companies, or U.S. industry, at a disadvantage in the development of…Jul 30, 2019
Aside from Bitcoin, the most talked-about cryptocurrency over the past few weeks has seemingly been Tether. The fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, the stablecoin, which trades on markets as USDT, has become increasingly important to the crypto market. So much so that just the other day, data shared by Unfolded suggested that Tether’s market capitalization hit $7 billion, or approximately 3.4% of the entire industry’s value. It appears that growth is slowing, though. In fact, Whale Alert, a Twitter bot tracking large Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency transactions, recently revealed that $220 million worth of the cryptocurrency was burned by The Tether Treasury’s wallet. 220,000,000 #USDT (220,210,301 USD) burned at Tether Treasury Tx: https://t.co/gH5R6JSiZm — Whale Alert (@whale_alert) April 22, 2020 Paolo Ardoino, the CTO of Tether and Bitfinex, corroborated the burn, explaining in a tweet that the company had “reduced” the size of the USDT Treasury and adding that the coins burned were “authorized but not issued” to the market. Massive Burn Suggests Bitcoin May Dump Although Bitcoin hasn’t reacted to this move, flatlining ever since it hit $7,100 earlier today,…Apr 23, 2020
